Visit to the Zoo

We took a couple of monkeys to Southwick's Zoo in Mendon, MA today and everyone had a great time.

Adam loved feeding the deer... (his super excited face!)
...and enjoyed hanging out with the goats in the petting park.

Loved Zach's blue eyes! What a cutie!
And this being my favorite picture of all...the dads and their boys.
It was a nice zoo in the middle of nowhere (you drive through heavily wooded, narrow back roads to get there). We were also surprised that it really wasn't crowded for a Saturday, but we were very happy about that! We had a great time, although we did get caught in a torrential downpour in the afternoon, just before heading home. And it was insane...it felt more like a monsoon!! It was starting to get overcast while we were eating our ice cream and all of a sudden Matt yells that rain is coming, and we see a sheet of rain headed our way along with with screams of children coming from that direction. The camels that we were next to (really not the best place to put an eating area, they were stinky!) started FREAKING out and running around...so we knew that we were in trouble....and there was no where to go!! So we tried to find some sort of shelter under a tree, but realized that we were still getting completely soaked, especially with the strong wind, so we decided to just get back the car ASAP. After trudging through the rivers of goat poop (we had to walk down hill from the petting park) in a down pour we made it back to the cars absolutely soaked to the bone. We were cold and drenched but we were laughing by the time we got back to the cars. It was nice to finally get home and get into some dry clothes! :)

Great story, glad you were laughing! How about Adam? Was he more like you or the camels?

More like the camels unfortunately... (he wasn't happy at all)...but he did fall asleep almost before we left the parking lot.
